Jay Dearborn is going to Italy next week.
Yarker's very own Jay Dearborn, a former CFL player, has been named to Canada’s Olympic bobsled team for the upcoming Winter Games in Italy.
Dearborn, who previously competed for the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Hamilton Tiger-Cats, will represent Canada in both the two-man and four-man bobsleigh events. He also competed in the four-man event at the 2022 Beijing Olympics.
Dearborn said his move from football to bobsled came after his CFL career ended.
Dearborn said the two sports share key similarities.
Outside of sport, Dearborn serves as an athlete and education ambassador for BGC Southeast, supporting youth programs and anti-bullying efforts like Pink Shirt Day on Feb. 25.
