The drive is taking place Friday outside Giant Tiger on Gardiners.
Kingston Community Health Centres and Robert Hogan Bus Lines are urging residents to step up and support local children in need this winter. The annual Fill a Bus Boot Drive runs Friday, November 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. outside Giant Tiger at the Riocan Centre on Gardiners Road.
The community is invited to donate new winter boots, hats, and mittens—or make a cash contribution—to help school-age children stay warm. All items collected will be distributed through Operation Warm Feet, a long-time program run by Kingston Community Health Centres that supports low-income families.
“Every year we give out over 500 pairs of boots, and there are still families left waiting,” said Steph Wheeler, Community Development Worker at KCH. “Something as simple as warm boots can make a big difference in a child’s life.”
Donations can be dropped off directly at the bus, and items do not need to be purchased on-site. Monetary gifts will help buy even more boots for kids who need them.
