The annual run for cancer research goes this Sunday at Lake Ontario Park.
Terry Fox still resonates with people in Kingston 46 years after he began the Marathon of Hope.
Canadians will be lacing up the shoes and taking part in the annual fundraiser for cancer research this Sunday at Lake Ontario Park.
Generations of Canadians were not around when Terry started his quest to run across Canada in 1980.
Kingston run organizer Kristi Murphy says the fact that we are still talking about him today shows you how remarkable he was.
Murphy says people identify Terry as a true Canadian and can often relate to him and what he had done.
The event will have a 2.5 km route and a full 5 km route, both will be along the waterfront.
Murphy says participants can take either route do it in any way possible.
Murphy says they raised over $63,000 last year which is the most they ever raised in one year.
She says their goal for this year is $54,600. As of Monday, the group has raised $22,638.
Registration begins at 9 am and the run starts at 10:15 am. More information on the Kingston event can be found at their website or Facebook page.
