Esthetician student Emma Amalfi competed against others in Toronto last week.
A St. Lawrence College student came away with gold at the Skills Canada Competition.
Emma Amalfi, a student in the Esthetician program at SLC, won in the Esthetics category last month in Toronto.
Amalfi was part of a delegation of 131 students representing Ontario at the competition. Before that, she won gold at the provincial level to secure her spot with Team Ontario.
At the Skills Canada Competition, they were taking on the best esthetic students from across the country.
Amalfi displayed her abilities in manicures, facials, makeup, and body treatments. Competitors were judged on sanitation, time management, client comfort and care, client communication, and more.
Amalfi says winning gold was well worth the long and hard training. She thanked faculty, technicians, and staff for their support.
Esthetician Program Coordinator at SLC Dr. Aba Mortley says Amfali's achievement reflects not only her individual commitment to excellence but also the strength of the college's Esthetician program.
