The event is geared toward children, parents, and grandparents alike.
Families in Seeley’s Bay are invited to a free community event this week as the Seeley’s Bay Area Residents Association (SBARA) hosts its Red Canoefest on June 6.
The event runs from 9 a.m. to noon at the docks and is geared toward children, parents, and grandparents alike.
Activities include fishing with guidance from “Big” Jim McLaughlin and fellow anglers, with prizes available for participants.
Organizers say snacks will be provided by Dr. Dodie Elkins and the association.
Children are encouraged to bring their own fishing gear and life jackets, although a limited number will be available on site, and must attend with an adult.
A new Red Canoe Hunt will also send participants exploring the dock area for hidden treasures and fun prizes this year.
