AMBER Alerts will continue to be issued through existing emergency alert systems.
The Ontario Provincial Police says the AMBER Alert Ontario Facebook page will no longer be used to share alerts and updates.
Effective immediately, all AMBER Alert information posted on Facebook will be distributed through OPP regional Facebook accounts instead.
The change means residents should follow their local OPP regional page to receive updates during child abduction emergencies.
The notice advises that updates and notifications previously shared through the province-wide page have been discontinued.
Information about specific OPP regional accounts is available in the post’s caption. AMBER Alerts will continue to be issued through existing emergency alert systems.
