RBC announces major gift to Kingston healthcare.
RBC Foundation made a $500,000 donation to Kingston Health Sciences Centre on May 14th. The goal through this donation is to help the healthcare system in Kingston long-term, with expanding KHSC's simulation program.
This program is available for healthcare professionals to practice medical care in a safe environment before tranferring to actual patient care.
Executive Vice President Jason Hann, said that the support from the RBC Foundation will have a direct and lasting impact on patient care across southeastern Ontario.
KHSC's simulation program first launched in 2023. Jason Hann emphasized that though simulation labs are common in medical schools, they are less common within Canadian hospitals, making KHSC's program and its growth signinficant.
RBC Foundation has made several donations towards healthcare in the region over the past 20 years. RBC's total giving to KHSC will exceed $1 million after this latest gift.
RBC's Regional President for Ontario North and East, Devinder Gill says that this donation will help KHSC strengthen staff preparedness.
This week also marks National Nursing Week, making the donation siginificant for the growth in healthcare workforce development and nursing development.
