Police warning of jewelry swaps in Kingston

Three people are targeting unsuspecting residents with gifts only to steal their jewelry.

Residents are being asked to be aware of jewelry thefts going around Kingston.

Police investigators say someone was approached by three people in a white-coloured vehicle in the area of Henderson Blvd and Renda St last Thursday afternoon around the Noon hour.

They say the person was asked for directions then a man exited the vehicle and placed a gold chain around the victim’s neck. The driver stated this was something done in their culture as a thank you. 

The victim was also given a bag of gold jewelry by a female seated in the rear passenger seat of the vehicle.

After the vehicle had left, the victim then realized the two gold necklaces they had wearing around their neck was gone as jewelry was swapped during the interaction.

The suspects are described as having a dark complexion possibly of East Indian descent.

Investigators are advising residents to keep valuables covered, to maintain strict personal boundaries, and
