Serious fines handed out
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were busy Saturday morning ticketing 18 drivers for allegedly using their phones to film a serious crash on Highway 401 near Shannonville Road. The crash, involved a transport truck and a tanker that rolled over in the eastbound lanes between Belleville and Napanee.
Among those fined, two were transport truck drivers. OPP emphasized that distracted driving is dangerous, especially near crash sites where emergency workers are present. The police reminded drivers that staying attentive keeps everyone safe.
Eastbound Highway 401 was closed for about 12 hours due to the crash.
The OPP continue to warn motorists about the severe consequences of distracted driving, stressing the importance of focusing on the road to prevent further incidents and ensure the safety of everyone involved.
