The organization received $5,000 from WINTARIO50 Community Contest.
Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has contributed more than $1 million to communities across the province through the WINTARIO50 Community Contest. The initiative celebrates OLG’s 50th anniversary and honored the original WINTARIO lottery game.
Players who purchased a WINTARIO50 ticket could win personal prizes and nominate a United Way region for a chance to receive up to $250,000. All 26 United Way regions in Ontario received prizes, with two regions, including United Way Halton and Hamilton, winning the $250,000 grand prize.
United Way Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington received $5,000.
The contest highlights the role of players in giving back to communities. United Way leaders praised the partnership with OLG, noting the funding supports vital social programs, including services for vulnerable populations, food programs, and safe spaces for women.
Since 1975, OLG has generated approximately $62 billion for Ontario, funding health care, amateur athletes, and other provincial priorities.
