The victim suffered serious injuries after being attacked with an edged weapon.
Charges are being laid to a Kingston man in connection to a vicious assault at an emergency shelter.
Kingston Police were called to the shelter on Cowdy St. last Friday night.
Investigators say the victim was standing outside conversing with several people when a man approached him from the back and proceeded to attack him with an edged weapon.
The victim suffered serious injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment.
Investigators say the victim and the attacker are known to each other.
The man fled before police arrived but was picked up by police Sunday afternoon in the area of Drayton Avenue and Princess Street and taken into custody.
The 45-year-old was held for a bail hearing.
