The move to bigger kitchen allows the organization to continue serving meals to the homeless.
Lunch by George has found a new place to prepare their meals.
With help from the City of Kingston, Outreach St. George's Kingston have partnered with St. Lawrence College to use one of their commercial kitchens at their main campus.
Chief Administrator Tom Ivison says the kitchen has the ample space to do their work.
The organization had been operating out of St. George's Cathedral since 1985. The program has grown to the point where it has outgrown the kitchen.
OSGK were informed by the church last November that they were not extending their licensing agreement.
Ivison says finding a suitable location proved to be a daunting task.
Now that kitchen staff have a place to make the meals, there is the other issue of where they will be handing out the food?
Ivison says they have a site under consideration but there are some details that need to be worked out.
There is also the name, Lunch by George. Are they going to keep it?
Ivison says the final details of the move and new distribution centre will be announced once it is confirmed.
