With recent precipitation in November and an average forecast ahead, recovery is expected to continue.
Cataraqui Conservation has officially downgraded the Level 3 Low Water Condition to Level 2, affecting the region from Napanee to Brockville and north to Newboro.
The Level 3 designation, announced in early September, followed an exceptionally dry July and August. However, October delivered close to 100 millimetres of rainfall, helping relieve pressure on local water systems.
Watershed Conservation Technician Nick Sterling says stream flows in several creeks have now returned to normal seasonal ranges, while others remain low but are improving. With recent precipitation in November and an average forecast ahead, recovery is expected to continue.
A Level 2 Low Water Condition signals a potentially serious water supply concern. Residents using groundwater or drawing from lakes and streams are urged to voluntarily conserve water, including limiting outdoor watering, repairing leaks, reducing non-essential use, and minimizing vehicle washing.
Boaters are also advised to use caution due to exposed shoals and hazards. Cataraqui Conservation will monitor conditions and provide updates.
