SIU invokes mandate
The province’s Special Investigations Unit is looking into an arrest in Kingston that sent a 41-year-old man to hospital with a serious injury.
According to the SIU, the arrest happened around 7:50 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, 2025, on Kananaskis Drive in a quiet residential area. Kingston Police were responding to a report of a disturbance when they arrested the man.
After the arrest, he was taken to the local detachment. Paramedics later brought him to hospital, where he was diagnosed with a serious but not life-threatening injury.
The SIU has assigned three investigators to the case. Two officers have been named as subject officials, and four others have been identified as witnesses.
