Kingston fire officials concerned after crews attend a number of calls to Belle Park

They issue an immediate threat to life notices after several structures containing combustible material were set ablaze.

A number of fires in and around the Belle Park area has kept Kingston Fire and Rescue busy and concerned.

There were two incidents that occurred this past week.

Last Monday, emergency crews were called to an area near the K&P Trail where two combustible structures was set ablaze in a wooded area. 

Fire inspectors removed the structure, propane cylinders, and combustible materials from the property. 

Then on Thursday, crews responded to a large brush fire then returned later in the day to find multiple wildfires in the area where a 30-pound propane cylinder exploded. 

Fire officials have issued immediate threat to life notices as a result of the fires.

City By-Law Enforcement Officers and Kingston Police have also been monitoring the area due to concerns for public safety. 

While some of the incidents are happening at the city-owned park, police say others are taking place on private property. 

The City said in a statement that these persistent and serious unsafe conditions require important resources, with emergency services responding multiple times, and place the safety of responders at risk. 

Fire officials have noted a sharp rise in calls to the area of Belle Park and are trying to figure out how to ensure resources are available for calls to other parts of the city.
