Charges include criminal harassment, indignity to a dead body, and two counts of indecent communication.
Police say a youth has been charged following a death investigation involving another young person in Bath earlier this year.
Officers with the Ontario Provincial Police’s Lennox and Addington County detachment were called to a local school on March 9, 2026, for what was described as a medical emergency. One youth was taken to hospital but later died.
The case has remained under investigation by the detachment’s crime unit, working alongside the Office of the Chief Coroner. Police say they have also continued to coordinate with school officials throughout the process.
As a result of that investigation, a youth now faces several charges, including criminal harassment, indignity to a dead body, and two counts of indecent communication.
Authorities are not releasing further details, citing the Youth Criminal Justice Act, which protects the identities of those involved.
Police say no additional information will be shared at this time, noting the need to respect the privacy of the family during an ongoing and sensitive investigation.
