Habitat for Humanity cut the ribbon on a new semi-detached home in Kingston

Two families will be living in the new dwelling on Wilson St.

A Kingston family were given the keys to their brand new home built by Habitat for Humanity Kingston Limestone Region.

A ceremony was held on Tuesday to christen a new semi-detached home on Wilson St.

One of the owners is the Connors family who were successful in their application to purchase the home.

Vaughn Connors says he and his wife Taylor have been yearning to move into a bigger home to raise their infant son.

He says that day has finally come to fruition.

Connors says with some many people looking a home with an affordable price tag, he didn't think he would actually be the one holding the keys.

The Connors were at the ceremony to receive the keys to the home. Once that was over, the 40 people in attendance got a tour inside the new home.

Ground initially broke on the new semi-detached home in May of 2025. Delays in servicing and electrical work pushed the completion of the project past their expected Christmas date that year.

Chair of the Habitat for Humanity Kingston Limestone Region Jacqui Collier says the hurdles that they went through made them more determined to finish the project.

The new homes each have three bedrooms, a full bathroom, living room, kitchen, and backyard.

Collier says the neighbourhood has welcomed the project with open arms.

Collier says they have not yet selected a family to move into the other home of the semi-detached dwelling.

WIth the work on the Wilson St completed, the chapter is shifting their focus on their next project which is building two semi-detached homes in Loyalist Township.
