The property was declared surplus and listed for sale in August 2025.
Greater Napanee council is expected to approve the sale of the Town-owned property at 12 Market Square to Dipak Dhanani for $380,000 plus HST.
A staff report recommends council pass a by-law authorizing the sale and waive the Town’s standard conditions. The decision will be considered at Tuesday's council meeting..
The property was declared surplus and listed for sale in August 2025 at $495,000 but received no offers by the deadline. The price was later reduced to $395,000. An offer from Dhanani was received in January and accepted in closed session.
Dhanani, a pharmacist and healthcare operator, plans to redevelop the building into a pharmacy and medical hub with walk-in clinic services. Staff say the proposal could help improve access to primary care and reduce pressure on hospital emergency rooms.
Net proceeds from the sale are estimated at $352,500. Funds will be directed to a reserve for Market Square revitalization. The sale would also add the property to the municipal tax roll.
