Kingston GM wins top OHL award after record-breaking season
Kingston Frontenacs General Manager Kory Cooper has been named OHL GM of the Year, earning the 2024-25 Jim Gregory Award.
Cooper, in his fourth season as GM, led the Frontenacs to a 40-20-5-3 record, good for second in the East Division. The team set a franchise record with 16 straight home wins and tied records for home wins (25) and points (52). Their 88-point season is the second-best in team history.
Kingston swept Sudbury in the first round of the playoffs, marking the team’s first-ever series sweep. Cooper’s trade deadline moves brought in Joey Willis, Ethan Hay, Will Bishop and Charlie Schenkel.
“I’m honoured to receive this award,” said Cooper. “I think of mentors like Larry Mavety and Dick Cherry and thank the Springer family for their support.”
“I could not be happier for a more deserving individual.” added Frontenacs President and Governor Doug Springer. “There isn’t a person I know that cares more about his players than Coop, and I admire his commitment to providing the best experience for them."
