Vanessa Mensah's campaign is running on accountability and transparency, community well being, and human-centred leadership.
A former City staffer is looking to become the next Mayor of Kingston.
Vanessa Mensah has been a resident of Kingston since 2013.
She says while the city has been great under the leadership of Mayor Bryan Paterson, she believes there should be some new blood on Council.
There are three key areas that Mensah is running on: transparency and accountability, human-centred leadership, and community well being.
Mensah says the last one is something she is really passionate about.
Mensah also wants to see Kingston be able to retain talent and keep recent Queen's University and St. Lawrence College graduates in the city.
Mensah is currently a mental health therapist in Kingston operating her own clinic, Selah Counselling and Consulting. Prior to that, she worked at city hall as manager of equity diversity and inclusion.
Mensah is hoping her experience working for the City will translate in her ability in governing the City.
In addition to the incumbent, Mensah will be up against current Councillor Conny Glenn, Stephen Cuthbertson, and William Grant Bedard in the October 28th vote.
