More rain and freezing rain on the way for Kingston
Cataraqui Conservation has extended its Flood Watch as water levels remain high and more rain is on the way.
Forecasters say up to 55 millimetres of rain or freezing rain could fall between March 28 and 31, with more possible from April 2 to 5. Temperatures will hover around freezing, causing a mix of snow, ice pellets, and rain.
Recent snowmelt and earlier rainfall increased water levels, but dry weather helped stabilize conditions. Now, streams and lakes could rise again. While widespread flooding is not expected, low-lying areas could be at risk.
Lakes in the Cataraqui Watershed and Gananoque River System remain above normal levels. Water managers have boosted outflows to reduce flood risks.
Residents in flood-prone areas are urged to move belongings away from the water.
