Dr. Ma ordered to repay for COVID-19 vaccinations
Dr. Elaine Ma, of Kingston’s Frontenac Doctors family medical clinic, has applied to the Divisional Court for a judicial review of her case against the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP).
Kingstonist reports the review follows an order for Dr. Ma to repay approximately $600,000 for COVID-19 vaccinations billed between July 2021 and January 2022.
The deadline for repayment was set for April 1, 2025, but Dr. Ma remains uncertain about the next steps. While she expects her billings could be garnished, she has not received clarity on the consequences if the repayment is not made.
Dr. Ma confirmed that she has requested a timeline for the judicial review but has not yet received a response. The judicial review process will determine whether the administrative decision made by OHIP is fair and lawful.
