They say the new plan will address housing growth, business opportunities, and the environment.
The City of Kingston has unveiled the first draft of their new official plan.
The official plan, also known as YG220K, sets out the City's land use plans for the next 25 years outlining how residential, commercial, industrial and other land uses will be built in the city.
In a news release, the current official plan does not address the challenges Kingston is facing including housing, climate, and affordability crises.
They say the new official plan will support housing growth, new employment and commercial opportunities, and protect the natural environment and ecosystems.
It goes on to say that this will ensure that municipal services and infrastructure can support the growing community.
People are being invited to see the plan on the Get Involved Kingston website.
The City will be accepting comments on the draft official plan until Nov. 28.
