They say widespread flooding is not expected but localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
Cataraqui Conservation is urging residents to stay cautious near fast-moving waterways after issuing a Watershed Conditions Statement for inland lakes and streams.
The statement follows heavy rainfall across the region and forecasts calling for another 40 millimetres or more of rain. Rainfall totals on Tuesday ranged from 6 to 26 millimetres, with higher amounts possible depending on the storm's path.
Some waterways have already responded quickly to the rain. Buells Creek near Brockville is elevated and could rise further if additional rainfall occurs.
Water managers are monitoring conditions and adjusting dam discharges where possible to manage water levels.
While widespread flooding is not expected, Cataraqui Conservation says localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Residents are advised to stay away from dams, fast-flowing rivers and creeks, and slippery shorelines.
The water safety statement remains in effect until 11:59 p.m. on Friday, July 31, unless updated sooner.
