Investigators say the two people involved had prior contact before the incident.
A 24-year-old from Loyalist Township is facing multiple charges following a sexual assault investigation in Amherstview.
Members of the Lennox and Addington County OPP responded to a report of a sexual assault on the morning of June 7. Police say the incident occurred in a parking lot in the Amherstview area and involved two people who had prior contact before the incident.
According to investigators, the victim sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
As a result of the investigation, the accused has been charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault causing bodily harm by choking, suffocating or strangling, and sexual assault causing bodily harm.
Police say the accused was released from custody following a bail hearing.
The investigation remains ongoing, and officers are asking anyone with information that could assist investigators to contact the Lennox and Addington County OPP or Crime Stoppers.
