Sean Donohue has been with KPCV since 1998, 18 of those years as coordinator.
A member of the Kingston Police Community Volunteer is getting recognized for his volunteerism.
Sean Donohue received the Sovereign's Medal for Volunteers at a ceremony at Rideau Hall in Ottawa on April 30.
In a news release, Kingston Police say they are proud of Donohue's accomplishments.
They say he was very involved in expanding the volunteers, uniform improvements and procedural updates.
The medal recognizes the exceptional volunteer achievements of Canadians from across the country in a wide range of fields and pays tribute to the dedication and commitment of volunteers.
It went on to say that they embody the caring country we aspire to build.
Donohue joined KPCV in 1998, was named co-ordinator two years later and held that position until 2018. He continues to serve as a volunteer.
Donohue was first nominated for the Sovereign's Medal for Volunteer in 2019. He was to receive the medal the following year but ceremonies were cancelled due to COVID.
