Info sessions aim to guide potential candidates ahead of 2026 municipal election.
Residents considering a run in Kingston’s 2026 municipal election are being encouraged to attend upcoming information sessions to learn the process.
The City of Kingston says voters will head to the polls on Oct. 26, 2026, to elect a mayor, district councillors and school board trustees. Nominations open May 1 and close Aug. 21 at 2 p.m.
Two sessions are planned, including a hybrid event on April 27 at City Hall and an in-person session on May 26 at the Calvin Park branch of the Kingston Frontenac Public Library.
The sessions will outline candidate responsibilities, the nomination process and what to expect through election day.
Deputy City Clerk Derek Ochej says local government decisions shape daily life and the sessions offer a chance to learn and ask questions.
Candidates must be at least 18, Canadian citizens and meet residency or property requirements.
