Paul McIntyre Royston takes over from Tom Zsolnay who retired last month.
There is a new man in charge of the University Hospital Kingston Foundation.
Paul McIntyre Royston took over as President and CEO on August 17 after extensive search. He replaces the retiring Tom Zsolnay who left at the end of August.
McIntyre Royston held the same position for seven years at Grand River Hospital Foundation in Kitchener/Waterloo. During his tenure there, he has helped grow the foundation where they have generated around $25 million a year in fundraising.
He says the passion for health care in Kingston was one of the reasons he was attracted to the job.
McIntyre Royston brings over 20 years experience in fundraising. During that time, he has built a reputation for building organizations, inspiring philanthropy and bringing communities together to achieve ambitious goals.
McIntyre Royston has also worked at the Canadian Olympic Foundation, Hamilton Health Sciences and Sunnybrook Foundation in Toronto.
He says he will be taking the same approach that has made organizations he has previously worked with successful into his new role with UHKF.
McIntyre Royston says it will be an adjustment not only moving to a new organization but also to a new city.
But he says both he and his family are eager to start a new life in the Limestone City.
McIntyre says he has been meeting with officials at Kingston General and Hotel Dieu hospitals as well as Providence Care, and is looking forward to working with the community on enhancing health care in Kingston.
