OPP and RCMP were out patrolling the waters when they detected an object floating out in the middle of the lake.

A nice day out on the beach turned into an adventure for a pair of youths.

OPP and RCMP Marine Units were conducting a joint patrol between Kingston and Wolfe Island yesterday (MON) when their radar caught an object out on the water.

Crews went to an area near Richardson Beach where they found two 14-year-olds on an inflatable raft about 500 metres from shore. Investigators say that the pair were on the raft near the beach when the winds blew them out on the water far away from shore.

The youths were safely rescued and brought back to shore along with the raft where they were reunited with their families.

Investigators say there were no injuries and the pair were not wearing lifejackets.
