Two drug busts by Kingston Police's CORE unit resulting in drug seizures, arrests

Two Kingston residents are facing charges.

Kingston Police's Community-Oriented Response and Enforcement unit were kept busy last week.

They made a pair of seperate drug busts on Friday.

Officers first approached a man in the area of Montreal St and Rideau St around 10 am. Investigators say the man is known to be wanted on an outstanding warrant.

They say the man tried to flee on a bicycle but was stopped. An ensuing search turned up approximately 24.5 grams of fentanyl and a quantity of Canadian currency. 

A 34-year-old from Kingston is facing charges.

Then around 12:50 pm, CORE members were in the area of Clergy St and Princess St where an individual was seen making a drug transaction.

Investigators say the individual tried to conceal the item as they were being approached by officers. An ensuing searched resulted in a quantity of fentanyl, dilaudid, and morphine.

A 40-year-old from Kingston is also facing charges. Both individuals are being held pending bail hearings.
