Seaway Marine Group is looking rebuild the marina that can hold vessels of just about any size.

Plans are underway to redevelop the marina in Cape Vincent, New York that is being described as "transformational".

The Seaway Marine Group is looking to rebuild the five-acre property, formerly known as Anchor Marina, on the St. Lawrence River for recreational use.

Owner Jennifer Van Reenan says they bought the property in 2025 and felt it was in need of improvements.

She says they have experience in redeveloping waterfront properties.

The plan is to re-build the marina with 60 slips that can dock vessels as large as 50 feet long plus seawalls. Three floating dock systems and a stationary dock system have already been installed.

The Town of Cape Vincent is also looking to redevelop the property next door with plans to turn it into a waterfront park with a seating area, a splash pad, and other amenties.

It may not be quite as visible if people are seeing it from the south side of Wolfe Island but Van Reenan says once this project is completed sometime in 2027 or 2028, it will completely change the look of the shoreline.

The project is receiving private and public funding including a $4.5 million New York Forward grant from the Town. It is also expected to create up to 20 new jobs.

It is anticipated that residents from Kingston, the Thousand Islands and across Eastern Ontario will use the marina in Cape Vincent to dock their vessels.

Van Reenan says they are expecting visitors in town for next month's French Festival.
