Spirit Halloween won't return to Kingston this year, leaving Belleville as the closest location

The absence leaves Kingston residents without a local Spirit Halloween store for the first time in several years.

Halloween shoppers in Kingston will have to travel a little farther for their spooky season supplies this year, as Spirit Halloween will not be opening a location in the city for the 2026 season.

Spirit Halloween has traditionally operated out of vacant big-box storefronts and other large commercial spaces during the Halloween season. However, with fewer large retail vacancies available in Kingston, the company was unable to find a location that met its needs this year.

The absence leaves Kingston residents without a local Spirit Halloween store for the first time in several years.

The closest Spirit Halloween location appears to be in Belleville, where the company has listed a store at the former Toys "R" Us location at 390 North Front Street. The Belleville store is shown on Spirit Halloween's store locator and is operating for the 2026 Halloween season.

Spirit Halloween is one of North America's largest seasonal Halloween retailers, known for its wide selection of costumes, decorations, animatronics and party supplies. Each year, the company opens hundreds of temporary locations across Canada and the United States before closing shortly after Halloween.
