A resident informed Kingston Police about thefts happening in neighbourhood.
An alert resident is being credited with the apprehension of a pair of porch pirates in Kingston.
Police were called to an area of Beverly and Union streets on Tuesday.
The resident told investigators that two people were seen taking parcels from the porches of homes in the area.
Officers were able to locate the pair later in the day in the area of Earl and Collingwood streets and make arrests.
Investigators say not only did they find stolen packages in the suspects' possession but also a can of bear spray, brass knuckles, a switchblade knife and two sets of bolt cutters.
Another search at police headquarters turned up a quantity of crystal meth.
A 31 and a 36-year-old, both from Kingston, are facing a number of charges.
Police are urging residents to arrange to have their delivery parcels dropped off at designated pick-up locations.
