Ferry woes continue
The Ontario Ministry of Transportation has mobilized a temporary ferry as work continues to fix an electrical issue on the Wolfe Islander IV.
The Frontenac II has been brought in to potentially transport vehicles and passengers between Wolfe Island and the mainland. Before it can enter service, the vessel must undergo testing to ensure it fits properly at the docks.
Any required equipment changes will be made if they are feasible and safe.
In the meantime, the Quinte Loyalist continues to provide service for walk-on passengers only. The vessel is operating between Marysville dock on Wolfe Island and Crawford Wharf in Kingston, with departures from both locations roughly every 45 minutes.
Crews are still working to resolve the electrical problem affecting the Wolfe Islander IV. The ministry says further updates will be shared as information becomes available.
Officials acknowledge the ferry’s critical role in connecting the island community and thank residents for their patience as repairs continue.
