Police say high-speed driving, red light run and sidewalk escape led to criminal charges.
A 19-year-old driver from Lansdowne is facing criminal charges after a series of dangerous driving incidents in Kingston on April 9.
Kingston Police say officers first received reports of a light blue BMW speeding near Princess and Ontario streets early in the evening.
The same vehicle was later involved in a separate incident before being seen accelerating rapidly and losing traction. Police allege the driver then ran a red light at Queen and Barrack streets, forcing oncoming traffic to stop.
Officers say the vehicle later evaded police by driving onto a sidewalk along Montreal Street and continued at high speed, at one point passing vehicles in oncoming traffic.
The BMW was eventually located near St. Lawrence College. The driver was arrested in a nearby park around 10 p.m. and charged with dangerous operation and failing to stop for police.
