Teachers in Kingston looking forward to the return of school

First day of class for both public and catholic boards is Wednesday.

Educators at the Limestone District School Board and Algonquin Lakeshore Catholic District School Board are getting ready to welcome elementary and high school students back to class.

It's a professional development day for teachers on Tuesday, the doors open to students on Wednesday.

Kelly Witley, principal at Molly Brant Elementary School in Kingston, says even with the school year starting before the Labour Day weekend, it is always an exciting time for both students and teachers.

Witley says preparation and organization will be the keys in dealing with the first-day-of-school jitters.

It is not just the children feeling anxious. Parents will often feel nervous when sending their children off to school.

Witley says it is important to reach out to the school if they have concerns about their child.

Witley says the new school year allows everyone to reset and begin with a clean slate. She says she is looking forward to helping students discover their strengths and what they are capable of.
