Lakeside residents re-elected Stephen with 86 percent of the vote.

Wendy Stephen hopes to pick up where she left off at city council.

The Lakeside councillor was successful in her re-election bid at Monday's municipal elections in Kingston.

Stephen says the victory concluded a very long campaign but is excited to be returning to city hall.

Stephen won her seat with more than 86 percent of the vote. She credits the effort of her campaign to get more people to vote whether it would be online or in-person.

Stephen says she and the 11 other councillors plus the new mayor will be setting priorities on what city council should be focusing on in the new term.

There will be a few new faces on city council but the majority of those on council last term are back.

Stephen says that familiarity should bode well when working on solutions to the city's biggest issues.

One change around the council table is at the top where Conny Glenn will succeed Bryan Paterson as Kingston's next mayor.

Stephen says she is looking forward to working with Glenn, who was councillor for the Sydenham district last term, but it will be different not having Paterson around.

The new council will be officially sworn-in on November 24.
