$10,000 is going to the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic Education Foundation to help students and families facing financial hardship.
The Algonquin Lakeshore Ontario English Catholic Teachers' Association has donated $10,000 to the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic Education Foundation, providing a major boost for students and families facing financial hardship.
The donation will help the Foundation continue supporting families across communities served by the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board.
OECTA, which represents teachers throughout the board, selected the Foundation as one of its charitable recipients this year. The organization said teachers regularly see the positive impact the Foundation has on students by helping remove barriers to learning and providing assistance during difficult times.
Foundation officials said the contribution is the largest donation received in six years, excluding funds raised through Foundation-specific events.
The support extends beyond the donation. OECTA has also registered five teams and purchased two sponsorships for the 27th Annual ALCE Foundation Golf Tournament on Aug. 13.
Funds raised by the Foundation help students and families access support when unexpected financial challenges arise, ensuring young people can remain focused on their education and well-being.
