A security guard was assaulted after a man was seen taking items and leaving the store without paying.
An investigation is underway into a theft at a downtown Kingston grocery store.
Kingston Police were called to the Metro store at Princess and Barrie streets around 1 pm on March 31.
Investigators say a man wearing a red jacket, khaki pants, yellow and black ball cap, and dark shoes was seen taking items from shelves.
They say he was confronted by store security as he tried to leave the store without paying for the items. Investigators say the man became aggressive and assaulted the loss prevention officer on his way out.
The suspect, described as white with a beard, was also carrying a back pack and a green re-useable bag from Dollar Tree.
