Community members and first responders join forces to raise money for Epilepsy South Eastern Ontario
Community members and first responders put their strength to the test Sunday during the 13th annual Fire Truck Pull for Epilepsy in downtown Kingston.
Eight-person teams pulled a 37,000-pound Kingston Fire & Rescue truck 100 feet along Ontario Street in front of City Hall as part of the fundraiser for Epilepsy South Eastern Ontario. The 100-foot distance represents the one in 100 people worldwide who live with epilepsy.
Funds raised through the event stay in southeastern Ontario to provide education, advocacy and support services for people living with epilepsy and their caregivers.
The annual fundraiser also featured awards for the fastest pull, best team spirit and top fundraiser. The Ember Avengers claimed the overall title for the second straight year after also winning the competition in 2025. Executive director Brandy Sheahan says shes happy with how the event turned out.
The event drew cheering crowds and teams dressed in colourful costumes, creating a festive atmosphere while raising awareness of epilepsy and the importance of community support for those affected by the neurological condition. Sheahan says this couldn't be done without her team.
