The public health board will hire a third-party consultant to develop a comprehensive strategic plan and establish a clear long-term vision.
The Southeast Public Health Board of Health held a special meeting on Feb 10 in Kingston, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening public health services across the region in 2026.
During the meeting, board members approved a motion to hire a third-party consultant to develop a comprehensive strategic plan and establish a clear long-term vision. The Board also voted to pause further implementation of the Rural Services Delivery Strategy, along with any branch office closures, until the new strategic plan is finalized and approved.
Board Chair Nathan Townend said “Our communities can be proud of this Board, and confident in their skills and expertise, as well as their professionalism, compassion, and dedication. Together, the Board is moving forward to deliver on its strong commitment to the success of the merger, and the strengthening of public health in our region.”
The next meeting of the Board of Health is scheduled for Feb 25, where further updates are expected.
