They say people should limit outdoor activity and seek medical attention if they experience coughing, shortness of breath and other symptoms.

South East Public Health is continuing to monitor the smoke coming from the wildfires.

They say everyone is at risk for health impacts related to poor air quality but the risks are even greater for infants and children, older adults, those with chronic illnesses, pregnant women, homeless people, people who work outdoors, or people participating in strenuous sports and outdoor activities.

Public health suggest people should limit strenuous outdoor activity especially if they show signs of increased coughing, throat irritation, headaches or shortness of breath. Anyone showing these symptoms should seek medical attention.

They say as smoke level rises, people should use measures to protect themselves and others from the effects of wildfire smoke.

Environment Canada has issued an Orange Warning for poor air quality for much of the region covered by South East Public Health.
