City says thousands of potholes already repaired as major road projects get underway.
Kingston is investing approximately $75 million in roads and road-related projects in 2026, with construction and maintenance work continuing throughout the year.
The City of Kingston says the funding will support a wide range of projects, including routine road maintenance, repairs, upgrades and full roadway reconstruction. Residents can expect to see crews working on pothole repairs, crack sealing, asphalt treatments and larger infrastructure projects across the city.
So far this year, city crews have repaired about 6,000 potholes. Officials say temporary winter repairs are being replaced with more durable asphalt fixes as warmer weather arrives. The city is also exploring the use of recycled asphalt to improve initial repairs.
Larger reconstruction projects will include rebuilding road foundations and, in some cases, replacing underground water, sewer and stormwater infrastructure. New roads, intersections and crossings may also include improvements for pedestrians, cyclists and transit users.
The city says additional maintenance and repair locations will be added as assessments of the road network continue throughout 2026.
