Utilities Kingston says nearby powerlines can pose a danger to people especially when trimming trees and cleaning eavestroughs.
Now that the weather is starting to warm up, Kingston residents are starting to clean up and begin projects around the home.
However, nearby powerlines can pose a danger to people especially when trimming trees and cleaning eavestroughs.
Utilities Kingston is advising residents to stay away from powerlines during Powerline Safety Week going on now until this Sunday.
In a news release, the Electrical Safety Authority says powerline contacts are a leading cause of electrical deaths in Ontario, with 13 fatalities between 2019 and 2023.
They suggest keeping at least 3 metres away from overhead powerlines and 10 metres away from a downed powerline.
More information on safety around powerlines can be found by going to the Utilities Kingston website.
