A section of County Rd 509 is closed, there have been no reports of injuries.
A number of residents in North Frontenac have been forced from their homes because of a wildfire in the area.
The fire began late Sunday afternoon in an area near Donaldson. Strong winds caused the fire to spread along a stretch of County Rd. 509 between South Lavant Rd. and Snow Rd.
Frontenac OPP closed that section of County Rd. 509 as a result. They say there have been no reports of injuries.
Affected residents were directed to one of two evacuation centres set up by North Frontenac Township. One is at the Snow Rd. Community Hall and the other at Ompah Community Hall.
The Township said on their website (https://www.northfrontenac.com/en/our-community/burn-ban-status-and-fire-danger.aspx) that fire crews along with the Ministry of Natural Resources and the OPP will remain at the scene to assess the conditions.
OPP say they will determine whether further evacuations will be necessary but the rainfall on Monday has helped with the situation.
