148 participants played through the wet conditions at Cataraqui Golf and Country Club.
The wet weather didn't dampen the spirits of those who took part in the Power of Hope golf tournament.
There were 148 golfers at the Cataraqui Golf and Country Club on Thursday for the fundraiser in support of prostate cancer care at Kingston Health Sciences Centre.
Organizer and chair of the golf tournament Mike Laframboise says over $205,000 was raised from the tournament.
Over the last six years, the tournament has raised more than $948,000.
The hospital has been able to use those funds to purchase not one but two da Vinci surgical robots. Laframboise says as a prostate cancer patient himself, he has benefitted from the equipment.
But he says it can do more than treat prostate cancer.
Laframboise says he experience with prostate cancer motivated him to donate to the University Hospital Kingston Foundation.
He adds the golf tournament has done so much for prostate cancer research.
Given the wet conditions, Laframboise says some of the participants only golfed some of the holes at the course but it was a fun day overall.
