People will approach residents offering to repave their driveways at a discounted price only to see the work not finished or poorly done.
With summer around the corner, many residents will take it upon themselves to do a little renovations around the house.
But with that there are those who will come and promise to spruce up your home only to take your money and leave without completing the work.
Kingston Police are advising people of these scams in particular, the paving scam. People go door-to-door to homes offering residents to pave their driveways at a deep discounted price.
Investigators say residents are asked, often pressured, to pay cash up front before any work begins. The work is usually substandard or nowhere near completion, or debris and materials are left on the property.
Residents are being reminded that residents should check and verify the business before handing over any money or personal information.
Anyone who has been approached by these individuals or believes they may have been victimized is asked to contact Kingston Police at 613-549-4660 ext. 0.
