Officers will be watching for the so-called Big 4 traffic infractions: speed, impaired, distracted, and seatbelt use.
Residents may be taking Canada Day off but not Kingston Police.
They are planning to conduct a one-day traffic safety blitz on Canada Day Wednesday.
In a news release, officers from the traffic safety unit will be doing proactive patrols in order to ensure road safety on city streets.
They will be watching for speeding, distracted driving, impaired driving, seatbelt usage, and aggressive driving. They will also monitor unsafe vehicles.
Police are also reminding motorists that if they are stopped by police they should be prepared to provide a breath sample under the mandatory alcohol screening legislation.
