CAMSafe lets investigators access a list of security cameras in the city.
Kingston Police will be going around town to businesses and residents with security cameras.
They are promoting a program called CAMSafe, a voluntary community-based initiative that connects public and police resources through registered closed-circuit television cameras to enhance safety and support investigations.
The program sees members of the public voluntarily register their cameras providing law enforcement with valuable resources during investigations.
In a news release, the innovative platform empowers investigators with a streamlined, map-based interface to locate and contact participants, fostering collaboration and improving community safety.
They say the registry will only list names and contact info. Police will have no access to the surveillance footage until they receive permission from the property owner.
Community volunteers will be in the downtown core visiting businesses this Saturday.
