Plenty of authors, workshops, and more coming to downtown Kingston in October.

The 2026 edition of Kingston Writersfest aims to give patrons more ways to experience the annual reading festival.

The events runs October 1-4 at the Mariott hotel in downtown Kingston.

The theme for this year is Words Bring Down Walls that Festival Director Bruce Geddes says brings a little more variety to the festival.

One of the new things at the festival is Page to the Stage which is a collaboration with Theatre Kingston.

There will be the usual line up of workshops and guest speakers.

The pre-festival event on September 30 features award-winning author Michelle Good talking about her book Eliza Sunshine at the Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts.

Kingston's Sophia Hannan, Judith Thompson, Helen Humphreys, and Wayne Grady are among the many authors appearing to discuss their works.

Geddes says the one speaker he is looking forward to seeing is former federal cabinet minister Jody Wilson-Raybould who has a new book titled The Inbetween Leader.

This is Geddes first Kingston Writersfest as the Festival Director and says he is eager to see how it will all come together.
